Memorial Day Weekend means it’s a three day weekend and I can only think of one thing - barbecue! Well… At least for me anyway…. But if you’re looking for something to do, check out these places on Oahu this weekend!

May 24

50TH STATE FAIR – opening this weekend at Aloha Stadium, get ready for great food, rides and entertainment. There is an entry fee of $5.

SUNSET ON THE BEACH – check out this free activity going on at Queen’s Surf Beach in Waikiki. Here you’ll find great food and entertainment with this month’s theme being fashion. For more information, please call 923-1094.

KATHY GRIFFIN – Comedian Kathy Griffin will be at the Waikiki Shell. Show starts at 7:30 pm. For more information, call 877-750-4400 or go online to purchase tickets through Ticketmaster.

SUNSET ON THE BEACH – check out this free activity going on at Queen’s Surf Beach in Waikiki. Tonight’s movie showing will be “The Devil Wears Prada”. Here you’ll find great food and entertainment. For more information, please call 923-1094.

20TH ANNUAL MEMORIAL DAY SERVICE – free event held at the Waikiki Natatorium War Memorial as a tribute to Nancy Bannick. Starting at 10am, see performances by ‘Ale’a, Nalani Olds, the Royal Hawaiian Band and more of Hawaii’s top performers.

BATTLE OF THE BANDS – I think the title says it all – Battle of the Bands! Anna Bannana’s will have an all ages event starting at 4pm. $10 cover applies. Call 945-5190 for more information.

May 26

LANTERN FLOATING HAWAI’I CEREMONY – This year’s theme, “A Thousand Lanterns for Peace & Harmony”. At sunset, 1,600 candlelit lanterns will be cast afloat from Ala Moana Beach Park at 6:30pm. This is a free event organized by the Buddhist community.
