A Fresh Start for Aloha Airline’s Former Employees
The closing of Aloha Airlines represents a marked change in the face of Hawaii’s airline industry. Whoa! That basically leaves Hawaiian Airlines and competing go! Airlines as our two options air travel in the islands. Ummm… I’ll take Hawaiian Air!
A little over a month ago, about 1,900 people lost their jobs. Today, we heard that Hawaiian Airlines is going to pick up about 110 of those former employees (TERRIFFIC!) while others are considering leaving the islands or alternative career changes. Well, at least this is a start of people beginning to pick up the pieces of their lives. We should take stock that this is a new start; a fresh start for the former employees of Aloha Airlines.
The one thing I have loved about Aloha’s former employees is / was how loyal they were to their employer. That kind of loyalty can only really come from a well-developed sense of family environment built over the years by Aloha and honestly, it is that kind of loyalty that makes companies strong.
On a funny note, I found that local comedian, Frank DeLima had written a song about about the Aloha Airlines situation, “I Wish It Didn’t Mean Goodbye” – you know… This is classic Frank DeLima stuff.
I’m glad to hear that the families who have been affected by the closing of Aloha Airlines are starting to rebuild their lives as they discover new opportunities that are available to them. This is time for a fresh start and a change – a new beginning whether you’re in or out of Hawaii’s airline industry.
